Get to know our super involved Director of Marketing, Sam!
Sam is a junior studying Journalism and Spanish from Lexington, KY!
Sam has always been very involved on campus, and has recently been recognized as a 2021 Levin Leader. She was nominated by the Grady School of Journalism faculty members and selected by a committee for the ninth cohort of the Levin Leaders program.
The program allows students to "immerse themselves in a hybrid training experience that combines the best of online education with facilitated leadership development workshops. It is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in a "digital first" era influenced by social media and an explosion in global platforms", says the Cox Institute.
Over the past 8 weeks, Sam has learned about what it means to be a leader in the media industry. Along with her peers, she explored leadership development, specifically in the "digital first" era, through discussions facilitated by Grady professor Keith Herndon. Sam loved getting to know other Grady students better with each session and says she now better understands how to navigate this field post-grad.
At UGA, Sam is involved in many different organizations where she can now put this training to use. She works as Recruitment Manager for The Red & Black (the student-run newspaper here in Athens), News Director for WUOG 90.5FM The Athens Journal News (the news program on UGA's alternative music radio station), and Chi O's Wishmakers on Campus sorority representative.
